Car accidents: Woman dead in Houston

A three-car pileup claimed the life of a 21-year-old woman on the morning of Nov. 2 in West Houston, according to local law enforcement. Texas police based in Harris County have confirmed the woman's death, and they have also confirmed that the other driver involved in the crash is facing charges. Car accidents causing fatalities can carry serious criminal penalties, and the man could be facing jail time.

According to the limited information in the report, it appears the woman was driving on Westheimer Road with an unidentified passenger around 9:15 a.m. the morning of Nov. 2 when the accident happened. It appears the 29-year-old male driver ran a red light and struck her car. The force of the impact killed the woman immediately, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger in her car suffered a fractured arm and serious internal injuries as well. Thankfully, he is expected to pull through. The male driver has been charged with reckless, aggravated assault as well as manslaughter. No court date has been announced at this time, and it is unclear from the report whether or not the man remains in police custody.

Car accidents causing fatalities are always tragic, perhaps more so when they are preventable. This is why Texas authorities will work to prosecute the male driver for his role in the crash. Separately, the injured man and the family of the deceased woman are both entitled under state law to file personal injury and/or wrongful death lawsuits against the driver in civil court. Evidence of his material contribution to the crash can be helpful in winning civil suits of this type.

  • Great Lawyer For A Reasonable Price

Mr. Hulett was a very competent and effective lawyer for me in my custody case. Not only did we get the desired result but he did it for less than half of what my ex paid to her attorney on the same matter.
