Car accidents: 4 dead, 3 injured in Texas

A tragic car accident claimed the lives of four high school students in Nevada on the evening of Nov. 4, according to local law enforcement. Texas police responded to the crash, which also injured three other people. Car accidents causing fatalities can sometimes result in criminal charges, but at this point in the case, police have not filed any such charges against the surviving driver.

According to the report, around 5:45 p.m. two vehicles collided near the intersection of Main Street in Nevada and State Highway 78. The force of the impact killed two male occupants of one vehicle, both 17, and two female occupants of the same car, aged 16. Three people in the other vehicle were taken to local hospitals with injuries described as not life-threatening.

Apparently the scene led to a second car accident, resulting in further injuries. Police say they are not sure what caused the initial crash, but they have not ruled out driver error, negligence or recklessness, or even intoxication on the part of either driver. The high school where the students attended is holding a memorial ceremony for the deceased students.

Depending on the outcome of the Texas police investigation, charges could be filed against the surviving driver if enough evidence exists to suggest that driver's culpability. It is also possible the deceased student driver could have been at fault. In both cases, state law allows the victims and the families of the deceased in car accidents of this type to file personal injury and/or wrongful death suits against any responsible parties in civil court.

  • Great Lawyer For A Reasonable Price

Mr. Hulett was a very competent and effective lawyer for me in my custody case. Not only did we get the desired result but he did it for less than half of what my ex paid to her attorney on the same matter.
