5 Different Types of Slip and Fall Accident Cases

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that about 17,000 slip and fall cases happen every year. These are also known as premises liability accidents because the person who owns the property on which the fall occurred might be held liable for any injuries sustained as a result of the fall. If one of the following five cases has happened to you, contact personal injury lawyers today.

  1. Visible Hazard Injuries
If you were in a store as a customer and there was a visible and obvious danger that the store owners should have known about and it caused you to slip and fall, you might be entitled to compensation. Examples include exposed electrical cables, fallen merchandise, and disorganized or obstructed aisles.
  2. Slippery Floors in Commercial Building
Perhaps less obvious than obstructions, yet equally as dangerous, are slippery floors. If you were shopping and slipped on spilled liquid that should have been cleaned, you can file a lawsuit.
  3. Slippery Floors at Work
Workers compensation should cover slip and fall accidents in the workplace. If you have documentation, though, that the slippery floors were a safety issue predating your accident, you might be entitled to a sizable settlement beyond simple workers compensation.
  4. Private Property Fall Accidents
Some personal injury cases that result from fall accidents occur in another person's home. If you are a visitor in another person's home and you slip and fall on something that was negligently located, you could theoretically be entitled to compensation.
  5. Outdoor Slip and Fall Accidents
If you slip on a crack in the sidewalk outside of a store, the liability issue is much more complicated than if it happened inside. Best talk to a personal injury attorney to figure out your next steps.

Whatever issues you face from your fall sustained personal injury, you should speak to a lawyer about seeking compensation. Public safety is no light matter, so make sure businesses are being held to a higher standard.

  • Great Lawyer For A Reasonable Price

Mr. Hulett was a very competent and effective lawyer for me in my custody case. Not only did we get the desired result but he did it for less than half of what my ex paid to her attorney on the same matter.
